A GROUP in Hexham have launched an initiative which aims to bring together those interested in helping Ukrainian refugees.
A small group of volunteers in the town have set up a survey to capture the interest from Hexham residents and groups in a community response to the evolving refugee crisis.
Hexham Together for Ukraine will also host a meeting with community representatives next Wednesday, March 30 at 6pm in the Beaumont Hotel.
There will be a moderated discussion on possible ways Hexham and its residents can help Ukrainians arriving in Tynedale, and a speaker with experience of working with refugees will also be in attendance.

Hexham resident and one of the organisers Dr Hanna Ruszczyk said: "'We felt that Hexham people needed a chance to show their willingness to support Ukranian refugees, find out what can be organised locally and meet others with a similar interest."
The group will then host a further meeting on Saturday, April 2 at 11am at the Beaumont Hotel, with a specific focus on hosting Ukrainian refugees for those interested or those already signed up to the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
The government scheme aims to match refugees with individuals, charities and other organisations who can provide accommodation for at least six months.
Ariane Baty, another organiser, said: "'It is important to understand that we do not have the answers or the resources right now to deal with all the interest.
"What we can do is create a forum for people to come together to learn about options and encourage communication among all those in Hexham who want to help in order for this group of people to deal with the new developments quickly and effectively in a sustained and coordinated way."
