A tennis club is preparing for its upcoming open day, which committee members hope will be a 'fun day for all' and will encourage more people to join.
Committee members of the Stocksfield Tennis Club, at 83 Guessburn, New Ridley, are excited for its first open day of the season on Saturday, April 2 from 2 pm and hope it will show many opportunities the club can offer.
Currently, the club has 211 adult and junior members but has 'plenty more space' for more people to join.
Speaking about the opening day, Incoming Membership & Communications secretary, Louise Freeman said :
"We hope that our great facilities and friendly people will encourage plenty of new members to pick up their racquets, get out in the fresh air and join a thriving community club!
"We think that the open day will give both new and experienced tennis players of all ages the opportunity to try Stocksfield’s tennis courts out for a couple of hours, as well as meet some of our members and coaching team.
"There will also be some free coaching.
"Don’t worry if you don’t have a tennis racquet, we will have a few spare for people to borrow on the day."
The club has facilities that include toilets/showers/changing rooms and a kitchen but also has four all-weather, floodlit courts, and a practice wall along with convenient off-street parking.
