A TYNEDALE pub has raised £1,100 to help displaced Ukrainian families.

The Black Bull in Haltwhistle, in collaboration with former town councillor Janette Kendrew, hosted a fundraising event on Saturday (March 26).

All proceeds are going to the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.

The event included a raffle, bric-a-brac, tombola, craft and plant stalls, and food.

The pub is owned by Hawthorn, a community pub company which owns more than 700 pubs across the UK.

Ahead of the event, Pub Partner Martin Campbell, who has been at The Black Bull for nearly three years, said: “We’re keen to help those in need in any way we can and we’re hoping our fundraising event will be a huge success and bring our community together to raise funds for a very worthy cause."

Andrew Parker, Director of Leased and Tenanted Operations at Hawthorn, said: “We’re proud to be a community pub company, and it’s more important than ever that our pub Partners are doing what they can to support their communities nearby and further afield.

"Well done to Martin and everyone at The Black Bull from all of us at Hawthorn.”
