A cricket club is appealing for public help to raise money to install a two-lane training net and to help with general maintenance of the club.
Matfen Cricket club, in Matfen, The Oaks, Newcastle has launched a crowdfunding appeal to help raise £20,000 to install a two-lane training net and to help improve other facilities at the club.
On the page, it said: "COVID threatened the viability of the club and we came very close to losing sports facilities in our community.
"We are proposing to install an ECB approved two-lane training net, that will mean players of all standards and ages can train safely side by side.
"Any amount raised in excess of our target will go towards a storage shed, new goal posts, and field improvements.
"We would also love to one day run electricity to the clubhouse."
So far it has raised £1,691 out of the target.
