A pair of school sweethearts finally tie the knot in front family and friends after waiting two years due to Covid postponing the plans.

Thomas Davies, 35 met Verity Carden Davies, 34 through a mutual friend at school in 2003. Soon after meeting, the pair got engaged in 2005. Fast forward to 19 years later and the couple have been on a wild adventure together.

“In the 19 years of being together, we have seen each other through school, university, first jobs, buying our first house,” Varity said.

“We even moved to Sydney, Australia in 2014- 2020 but we moved back to the UK with the intention of getting married and starting a family together.”

With plans in place, the couple were planning their wedding but did not imagine they would have to postpone it when Covid hit the country.

Despite the doom and gloom of Covid, the couple did have some ray of sunshine in their lives as they added a third member to their family.

Tom, am engineer, said: “We were really upset that we had to postpone our wedding plans due to Covid but we were delighted to welcome our beautiful daughter Evelyn in October 2020.”

Two years later and it was the big day the pair had been waiting for as they married at Hexham House on May 21 2022.

“The day was beautiful and so special to be surrounded by all our family and friends,” Verity said.

“I loved having my father walk me down to the aisle and Thomas looked so handsome dressed in his suit. Our families and friends helped make the day fun and relaxed.”

After the wedding ceremony, the couple and guests headed over to Shepherds Dene in Riding Mill to enjoy the weather, food, speeches and cake.

“The weather was beautiful, pockets of sunshine and gentle breeze with bubbles cascading over the grounds. The food was a delicious Mediterranean inspired buffet from the wonderful chefs at Shepherds but the cake we had was amazing,” Tom said.

“It was 3-tiered Victoria Sponge which was made by my mother Michelle. The Jam in the filling was also made from the apples and blackberries grown in the orchards at Shepherd’s Dene and decorated with fresh fruit.

“We even had cake toppers which were commissioned by bride’s favourite ceramist Yen Yen Lo in Melbourne, Australia.

After an exciting day and plenty of dancing, Tom and Varity were able to sneak in a first dance in private when most of the guests were asleep, allowing them to recall their special day.

Verity said :”Everything just came together as it should. We had a great day and plenty of memories to last a life time such as standing with Thomas at Hexham House finally getting married after 19 years together and being surrounded with our family and friends at Shepherds Dene.”
