A drama group is celebrating the success of a Jubilee panto for the Queen's Jubilee.

Allen Valley Drama Group, who is known for the Allendale Pantomime, came together for a 'one night only' performance last weekend as part of the village's celebrations for the Queen's Jubilee.

The group performed 'A Very Allendale Panto Jubilee' written and directed by Laura Charlton and produced by Margaret Stonehouse.

Even thought it was produced in ten rehearsals, the show was met by rapturous applause from its 150 audience members.

The show comprised of a series of comedy sketches and dances featuring the royals, taking inspiration from The Royle Family, Morecambe & Wise and Stars in their Eyes amongst others.

"The first sketch saw the young Queen, played by Max Baynes, performing the can-can alongside the Archbishop of Canterbury, played by Molly Baynes," Director Laura Charlton said.

"One funny sketch saw the Royal family ordering a 'chippy tea', or around the kitchen table trying to work out who was to blame for the extortionate electricity bill in the West Wing of the Palace.

"The Queen, played by Emma Harrison, was joined on stage by Margaret Stonehouse as Prince Charles, Tori Miller as Camilla, Max and Molly Baynes as Princes Harry and William, Kael Horton as Princess Catherine, Frankie Harrison as Meghan Markle, Heidi Miller as Susan the corgi, Paige Harrison and Laura Charlton as Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, Cordelia Harrison as Princess Anne and a whole host of other characters played by Yana Farley, Ben Miller, Jenny Findlay, Mike Heather and Heidi Miller, all whilst Sheila Brooks pulled the whole show together with wonderful charm as Stars in their Village's Matthew Kelly.

"A short film introducing the sketch show was shot and edited by Calum Pringle who, along with Emma Heslop, managed the lights for the performance, whilst David Harrison took to the sound desk to control the songs and microphones.

"The show-stopping dances were choreographed by Galiya Farley and a backstage crew, comprising of Will Stonehouse, Maggie & Michael Keen, Sam Miller and Terry Page ensured everything ran smoothly on the night. "

Allen Valley Drama Group next year's pantomime will be performed in February 2023.
