THREE Tynedale Scouts will walk Hadrian's Wall this weekend to raise funds for their trip to the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea next summer.

Ellie Graham, Harrison Phillips and Noah Kellie will join more than 40,000 Scouts from over 150 nations for the event in 2023.

The three teenagers were selected to be part of the 36-strong unit representing Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside within the UK contingent.

This weekend (July 1-3), the Unit will walk the length of Hadrian's Wall.

Different groups within the Unit will walk different parts of the wall, and they will all aim to meet in the middle on Sunday afternoon.

They will also serve breakfast at their campsite and refreshments at various points on the wall to raise further funds.

Ellie is part of the 1st Stocksfield Scout Group, while Harrison is a young leader at Barrasford Scout Group. Noah, who lives in Otterburn, is part of the Rothbury Explorer Scouts.

Dave Meddings, who lives in Stocksfield, will be one of the leaders attending the World Scout Jamboree.

As well as planning various different fundraising activities, the group has also applied for grants and written to local businesses to help fund the once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The World Scout Jamboree happens every four years, each time hosted by a different country, and gives attendees the chance to experience different cultures, languages and cuisine while learning new skills.

Kate Graham, 13-year-old Ellie's mum, said: "They're really excited, it's going to be amazing.

"There will be lots of things going on."
