AN INVENTOR is searching for groups of willing volunteers to try out his latest prototypes.

Hexham-based games inventor David Williams is searching for volunteer game testers in the area.

If you and your family or friends like to get round the table for a board game or party game, you might just be the group he is looking for.

Just now, he is looking to test one prototype that needs a minimum of four adult or young adult players and another that needs at least three players from eight years to adult.

David and his one-man company, Creating Games, have built up a strong reputation for popular games which are generally licensed to the British games maker Cheatwell Games.

If you have played games such as Quirky, Big 6 or Read My Mind, or the children's game Crown the Unicorn, you could be helping their creator with his latest projects.

"All games have to be thoroughly tested at prototype stage," David explains.

"They often go through several changes before they get to a point when I am ready to offer them to the big games companies," he said.

David has always used his own family circle to test games, but they can only do so much and he is keen to get a wider perspective, especially from typical family players rather than the more serious 'game nerds.'

If you like games such as Articulate or Scattergories, that is the market Creating Games is aiming for.

David is happy to sit alongside volunteers in their own home to introduce his latest prototypes, or arrange play in another local venue, depending on how a particular group is made up.

The testing is volunteer only, but testers will be in line for a free copy of any game they test that subsequently gets produced.

If you are interested in volunteering, email david@creatinggames.co.uk to register your interest, giving him as much detail as you can about yourself and any co-volunteers, such as what games you enjoy playing.
