TWO people were taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the A68.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Swinburne Quarry at 11.15am on Tuesday (August 9) after the crash, with one car rolling onto its roof.

The road was partially blocked between Corbridge and Elishaw.

A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 11.05am to reports of a road traffic collision on A68 involving two cars, one of which had rolled over.

"We dispatched two ambulance crews who treated four people at the scene and took two of them to RVI; one with head and wrist injuries and the other with head and shoulder injuries."

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At 11.15am yesterday (Tuesday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A68 near Swinburne Quarry, Hexham.

“Emergency services attended the scene. The road has since reopened.”
