A STARGAZING observatory founder has encouraged the public to try summer stargazing.
While the long dark nights of autumn and winter have obvious advantages for stargazers, summer still has stargazing potential.
Wil Cheung, founder of Twice Brewed Stargazing, has run summer stargazing sessions and emphasises summer offers unique stargazing experiences.
"Summer is a great time to stargaze. There is so much to see, which is not visible during the winter months," he said.
"Not only do you see the fabulous constellations such as Hercules and Cygnus but we are now approaching the best time of the year to observe the planets: Saturn, Jupiter and Mars.
Wil added: "With the peak of the Perseids upon us on August 12 and 13, alongside the celestial objects, bits of comet dust burn up in our atmosphere resulting in shooting stars to make wishes upon. This year's Perseids peak will see an average of around 25-30 meteors per hour.
"Here at The Twiced Brewed, we have a full schedule of events to enjoy the summer show. We're so lucky to be able to explore the skies from such an amazing location, and the summer skies have been delighting our visitors," Wil said.
