The Great North Run app lets you track the people you know along the route that starts in Newcastle and ends at South Shields.
Although most runners take just over two and a half hours to finish the run, some may take longer and it's always nice to check to see how well runners are getting on.
The app says: "Get the most out of your race day experience with live tracking, split times and results, interactive course maps and access to all of the important information you need on the day."
How does The Great North Run Tracker App work:

After crossing the first the app will keep track of the runner and will update every time they cross over a timing mat along the course.
Along with tracking runners, the app also gives you all the information you need to know about the event and even some selfie filters.
You can download the app now from the Google Play store and just search the Great Run for the Apple store.
