A big-name luxury retailer is set to open its first North East store in the Metrocentre before Christmas.
Luxury fragrance and lifestyle brand Jo Malone London has announced it will open its first standalone store in the region this winter after opening a pop-up at the Metrocentre last year.
The new store will be located in the lower red mall and open just in time for the Christmas shopping season.
Work is set to begin this month on the new 1,000sq ft store which will sit alongside other premium brands including Carvela, Tag Heuer and BOSS in the red mall.
Tom Nuttall, Leasing & Asset Manager for Metrocentre, said: “The centre has gone from strength to strength this year with several key high-profile lettings and Jo Malone London is another fantastic addition that will be hugely popular with customers.
“Jo Malone London is a name associated with British quality and values and we are excited for the standalone store to be one of our next openings at Metrocentre, as we continue to celebrate and support the great British high street.
“Metrocentre is a unique destination with a fantastic mix of premium brands and high street favourites and we look forward to strengthening this offer and announcing more new names in the coming months.”
Jo Malone London previously popped up at the centre over the festive period in 2021, giving customers in the region an exclusive chance to shop its extensive range of unique fragrances and luxury products for the bath, body and home.
The announcement follows a string of openings at the Gateshead shopping mall this year including H&M Home, Harrods’ H Beauty store, and Louisiana fast-food brand Popeyes.
Last month it was announced that Sports Direct and Flannels would take over the former red mall Debenhams site which had been home to Next’s Beauty and Home store for the last 18 months.
