TWO sixth form students have been selected to take part in international European Youth Parliament (EYP) events.
Following on from their success at the EYP regional forum in Newcastle, a group of pupils from Ponteland High School travelled to Liverpool Hope University to take part in this year's Autumn National Session earlier this month.
An EYP National Session runs over four days, and brings together over 120 delegates from 15 teams, one from each region of the United Kingdom.
Students were asked to research and debate the following topics: artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, EU-UK trade relations and women’s rights and gender equality.
Having fought off tough competition, Year 12 pupils Freddie Reynolds and Myles Paparesti have been individually selected to take part in international events this year.
Freddie has been selected to take part in the International Session in Tromsø, Norway, while Myles will take part in the National Selection Conference in Busteni, Romania.
Teacher Mrs Davison said: "Our students will have made lasting memories of this experience and we encourage them to keep involved with EYP in the future. We really are so fortunate to have such a talented group of students representing Ponteland High!"
