A BUSINESSMAN has made a 'splash' on social media after videoing his 'good deeds' of cleaning road signs.
After only creating a TikTok account a week ago, owner of 'Carfresh Valeting' Andrew Newton has now had 214.9k likes and 14.9 followers watching videos of him clean road signs around the North East.
The videos show Andrew power jetting or scrubbing road signs to upbeat music for a few minutes then surprising viewers with a satisfying end result.
"I started cleaning the signs about four or five years ago and did my first video on a Facebook live," said Andrew, of Prudhoe.
"It was on my business page at first. The video was down Prudhoe bank next to the badger. It was a really big sign and really green.
"It was amazing the response on it and how everyone loved to watch it.
"Some people said that they found it therapeutic.
"It was really easy to do with the set up I have for my business.
"Every time I see one between jobs or if we are going anywhere, I jump out the van and treat it with a little bit of soap then just gently power wash it off.
"I have millions of views and thousands of comments from all over the world.
"It is crazy and I have only had Tik Tok for one week."
Andrew believes that many feel his actions are needed, especially on dangerous roads - which encourages him to keep cleaning.
He adds: "A video of me cleaning a sign last week on the road from Riding Mill that says about having so many accidents a year that has 4.5 million views and hundreds of comments."
One of the many members who is appreciating Andrew's passion to clean is Prudhoe Cllr Gordon Stewart.
He said: "Andrew runs a popular local business and is renowned for his great support for the local community and always with a smile on his face.
"This is a fine example of this, getting the small but important jobs done, helping to improve the image of the Tynedale are for residents and visitors."
