AN award-winning micropub is celebrating the campaign for real ale (CAMRA) cider and perry month.

Wor Local in Prudhoe will host Somerset Cider Brandy and Burrow Hill Cider for a cheese pairing event from October 17-22.

Wor Local, which is based on Front Street but also has a branch at St Matthew's Hall, won this year's Pub of the Year and Cider Pub of the Year from the CAMRA branch.

Tyneside and Northumberland branch chairman, Paul Hillhouse, said: "CAMRA defines real cider or perry as being fermented from the whole juice of fresh pressed apples or pears without the use of concentrated or chaptalised juices.

"We would love to hear from anyone who feels they are currently serving real cider or perry that is not listed on Whatpub, and you can contact the branch through the website."

The Bodega Cider Festival will also run in Newcastle from October 14-23, showcasing fruit and flavoured ciders, barrell aged and aged ciders and rare ciders and perries.
