A ONE-OFF contemporary-classical music event will take place at the Sage Gateshead on November 4.

Sage Gateshead artist in residence Geoff Kirkwood, known by musical alias Man Power or through his record label Me Me Me, has curated a one-of-a-kind celebration of North East culture and identity.

Geoff said: "It really is the greatest honour of my creative career so far to have been appointed as artist in residence at Sage Gateshead."

The North East's first contemporary-classical event provided by a Dance Music promoter sees Geoff collaborate with artists to premiere new piece, NXS8, a fusion of genres.

This multi-sensory piece will be performed with an audio-visual backdrop, featuring footage by local filmmakers edited together by creative studio NOVAK.

Funded by Arts Council England, these film crews captured the essence of North East spirit, with footage of local landscapes and intergenerational interviews with factory workers.

Sound artist and experimental musician William Basinski will headline the night, with a solo performance of his 2020 album Lamentations and supported by BBC Radio 6 DJ Tom Ravenscroft.
