A Northumberland club will be flying the flag for the county in a new national golf knockout competition.
After playing and knocking out competitors, Stocksfield Golf Club has played its way through to the finals of the inaugural 2022 British Inter-Clubs Mixed Team Championships, which has attracted entries from all corners of the UK.
By earning its place, Stocksfield fought off teams from City of Newcastle GC, Billingham GC, Muthill GC (Perthshire) and Fleetwood GC (Lancashire) to become champions of the Northern region.
The finals will be taking place at Boavista Golf Resort, Portugal, in November.

Captain Fintan Kealy said “On our journey, we have had very close and competitive matches, experienced great hospitality and met fellow minded golfers who hopefully we will see again in the future.”
Postponed from last year, the championships are being played on a knockout basis with the four regional winners qualifying for the national finals in Portugal in November.
Event director Kath Tusler said: “Mixed golf has increased in popularity in recent times and this competition aims to mirror the success of the national men’s and women’s team club competitions that have been running for many years.
“Clubs are enjoying the chance to play some competitive mixed golf against different clubs and we look forward to even more Northumbrian clubs taking part next year.”
