THE Blackbird at Ponteland has received a prestigious global award.

The popular pub has been named in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice 2022 Awards.

This means the restaurant, operated by the Northumberland Pub company, is placed in the top 10 per cent worldwide according to reviews from Tripadvisor travellers.

The Northumberland Arms in Felton, also operated by the Northumberland Pub company, also received a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award for the third time.

Stuart Young, owner of the Northumberland Pub Company which operates The Blackbird, said: "We are absolutely delighted.

"Both awards, given that these are effectively due to customer feedback, are a great endorsement of the teams that work for us both front of house and in the kitchens.

"In the last couple of years we have worked very, very hard to keep things afloat and to keep standards up for our customers."

Earlier this year, The Blackbird was named Pub of the Year in the North East Tourism Awards.
