A POPULAR tourist destination has finally reopened almost one year after damage caused by Storm Arwen forced its closure.
Walking routes and the car park at Simonside is now open for tourists and locals to visit the popular walking destination.
Simonside forms part of a 4.5 mile walk located in Kielder Forest, which is the largest forest in England.

Some of Simonside's attractions include Lakeside Way, the hidden waterfalls of Hindhope Linn, and the panoramic views of the Cheviots and Northumbrian coastline.
Forestry England said it was delighted to have reopened Simonside.
Alex MacLennan, recreation and public affairs manager for North District at Forestry England, said: "It's fantastic to be able to open Simonside to the public once again – it's a popular walk with both locals and visitors to the area and the team has worked incredibly hard to clear the storm damage and make the area safe following Storm Arwen. I'd like to thank the public for their patience and welcome them back to enjoy this real gem in Northumberland's crown."
Forestry England worked throughout the year to restore as many areas as possible following the storm.
