HUNDREDS turned out for the unveiling of a much-loved footballer.
Family, friends and hundreds of spectators saw a statue of the North East footballer Jack Charlton unveiled in Hirst Park, Ashington, on Saturday, October 29.
The place for the statue was important, as it was where Jack and his brother Bobby learned their sport.
Jack, who was part of England's triumphant 1966 football team died in July 2020, aged 85, after being diagnosed with lymphoma.
Jack began his professional football career with Leeds United, where he played for many years.

He then managed Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United.
He took charge of the Republic of Ireland national team which led them to the 1988 European Championships and the 1990 World Cup.
Northumberland County Council and Jack's family believed the statue was a fitting celebration of the man and his life.
