WE asked our readers what they thought was missing from the centre of Hexham. Here's what they said.
1 Shopping
Linda Mary Ridley-Farr said: "I used to love Tynedale Park when I came back North. They seemed to have everything and it was great looking round especially Christmas time. They put on a lovely show."
Jayne Andrews said: "Better retail. Lots of empty shops and charity shops. The council should try and limit the charity shops and encourage pop-up store concepts with local creators in the empty shops."
Jackie Brown said: "Decent shopping. If you need your hair done and a cup of coffee while looking around charity shops Hexham is the place to be."
Steph Healey replied, saying: "Sounds like a good day out to me."
Janet Mcdonald said Hexham needs a department store with clothes and shoes for all ages.
2 Clean town
Eileen Heywood said: "We used to have a very clean town, the streets were swept, gutters cleaned, no litter and no empty shops. Flowers around in pots and containers. What happened, the council moved to Morpeth and now they spend the money there."
Nathan Joseph Stonefield said: "Make private landlords tidy up their properties, lots of empty units rotting away but no one doing anything about it, what retailer wants to rent an eyesore."
3 Heart
Maureen Johnston Gardner said: "A heart. It was a lively market town but building new outside has taken the heart out of Hexham. Rents need lowered to encourage people to invest or become like Ponteland, a street of restaurant's and eateries and when people get sick of them it will be a ghost town."
Berenice Groves said: "The heart - look at Morpeth it has been rebuilt, it relies on us (the community) to support and develop the area again. Requires investment."
4 Public toilets
Tony Wright said: "Decent public toilets instead of the disgusting stinking facilities that Hexham has now, town council should be ashamed of them."
Stuart Winter also said: "Hexham is shocking for public toilets."
Ella Shaw commented: "Clean public toilets these aren't very nice for visitors or anybody using them."
5 Car parking
Shelley Marie Murray-Hill said: "Long stay parking for people who work in Hexham."
David Atkinson said: "An underground car park with a lovely garden or park on top of it where the old bus stop is."
Liz Graham said: "More central parking."
6 Bakers
Sarah-Jane Bonnar said: "A nice traditional bakery. Miss the one that was near the old bus station."
Shirley Milton replied: "And Knights Bakery which was next to the Grapes Pub."
Carol Henderson said: "Traditional bakers - cream cakes, teacakes, like what Knights was."
7 Traffic-free market place
Tania Wilson said: "A traffic-free market place for street cafes, events and a better space for market traders especially on farmers market days."
8 Children's softplay
Shelley Marie Murray-Hill said Hexham needs a softplay, while Jodeen Betton said: "A children's softplay or indoor play area."
Alex Robinson said: "Second this. Always driving miles to softplay or play cafes."
9 Nightlife
Linda Robson said: "Good nightclub with a small exclusive casino, while Joan Liddle suggested a nightclub.
Paul R A. Mitcheson said: "A decent restaurant. All pub food even the so called hotels."
Simon Caudwell said: "A decent large-but-cozy pub to match the Black Bull in Corbridge."
10 Children's clothes shop
Readers including Victoria Curry said Hexham needed a children's clothing shop.
