Designer and founder Sarah Hickey established Sarah Hickey Jewellery in 2001, selling online very successfully, however having a ‘bricks and mortar’ shop has added an extra element to the business.
Sarah Hickey’s ethical jewellery business has grown over two decades, from Sarah working alone, to a team of ten.
Every piece of jewellery from the collections is designed and hand forged in Hexham, but it is an international business with orders going out daily across the world.
Despite the success of the online business, founder Sarah feels that traditional shops still have an important place to play.
Running the Beaumont Street boutique in parallel with the website allows customers to come by the shop, to see and feel the piece before buying.
Sarah is also available for pre-booked consultations in the boutique.
Engagement and wedding rings are a speciality, often involving salt and pepper diamonds, diamonds that are that little bit different, unique, and special.
Sarah also designs and breathes life into new pieces for people using their forgotten treasures.
Sarah said: "We launched our latest collection, the Guiding Star Collection, at the beginning of November which has been very successful.
"The Guiding Star design came from the desire to create a piece of jewellery that works as a modern-day talisman. A piece that offers love, protection and hope to the people who matter the most to you.
"They really make the most perfect Christmas gift."
"Our enticingly tactile Guiding Stars, work to say, 'I’m with you, I’ve got you.'"
She added: "We have a long history of craft in the North East, from the Lindisfarne Gospels and Roman metalworkers to Hexham’s world renowned glove makers and contemporary designers and artists.
"We’re so proud as a team to carry on this tradition of crafting unique pieces here.
"This is such a great region to work and live in, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
