A leisure centre has been named the best in Northumberland.
Northumberland County Council (NCC) has announced that Prudhoe WaterWorld, on Front St, is the winner of its new award of 'Outstanding Centre'.
The awards are set to 'recognise' the work of staff at their centres across Northumberland.
The centre orginally opened in 1990 replacing a cinema and had a £650,000 refit in 2016.
Mark Warnes, Chief Executive of Active Northumberland, said: “We value all our staff at all of our centres, and it was really hard to single one individual team out, however, on balance the team at Prudhoe Waterworld were named the worthy winners for our Outstanding Centre of the Year award.
“The highly motivated and united team at Prudhoe provide a first-class experience for customers.
"They are fun, welcoming, inclusive and trustworthy and always looking to improve and develop the services and the centre.”
Prudhoe Cllr Gordon Stewart, is not surprised about the named result.
He said:"The facilities are extremely popular with local people, as well as many who travel to Pudhoe as it offers a range of activities.
"I would like to pay a particular tribute to the amazing staff who make Waterworld such a great success."
The leisure centre is being used as a donation point for Metro Radio's Mission Christmas appeal.
