A COMMUNITY cinema is reopening with a pay-what-you-can Christmas offer.
The Fuse Cinema, Prudhoe, will reopen with a full day of Christmas films on December 17. The cinema has been closed since March 2020.
The Fuse will screen The Polar Express at 1pm, Elf at 4pm and It's a Wonderful Life at 7pm. It's a Wonderful Life Actor Henry Travers was born in Prudhoe and has a plaque in his honour in the town centre.
There is a suggested price of £5 per ticket but people can choose to pay what they can afford. The initiative has been supported by the Northumberland Skills Team based at the Fuse Media Centre near Prudhoe Community High School.
Director and volunteer of the Fuse Cinema Tim Smith said: “We hope that our pay-what-you-can scheme means as many people as possible can come along and join us.
"We will have a selection of reasonably priced cinema snacks available, but people can bring their own too, we just want to make everyone feel welcome again.
“Our aim is to go back to regular screenings in the new year, so this is hopefully the first of many such events."
Tickets are now available online or can be bought in person from the former Hays Travel building the Prudhoe Community Hub.
