A HEXHAM Courant journalist has been shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year.
Georgia Langdon has been recognised by the National Council for the Training of Journalists in its 2022 Awards for Excellence.
It comes after the now-senior reporter secured a mentorship with the John Schofield Trust which supports early-career journalists by matching them with more experienced reporters. The 25-year-old will now come under the wing of award-winning documentary presenter and journalist Layla Wright.

Georgia, of Prudhoe, completed her training with Darlington College, achieving a gold-standard diploma.
“It was a total shock,” she said of the recognition. “Even just to be nominated for the NCTJ award is a big achievement in what is still a really early stage of my, hopefully, long career.
“No two days are ever the same; I am so passionate about sharing people's stories - however big or small."
Some 444 entries were received across the 17 categories for the annual awards which highlight the achievements of promising journalists.
Prudhoe Community High School alumni Georgia joined the Courant team just before the national lockdown after graduating from the University of York with a first-class degree in English Language and Linguistics. She now volunteers for Radio Prudhoe and is interested in investigative, long-form journalism.
