The school welcomed Mark Wroe the Bishop of Berwick, the CEO and members of the board of Tyne Community Learning Trust, and representatives from the Diocese of Newcastle and Durham.
The project manager from D3 Associates attended, plus governors and school staff, past and present.
The school choir entertained everyone with singing, then visitors were treated to a tour of the school, led by children in Year 4 followed by lunch in the hall.
After lunch, the whole school took part in a worship assembly led by Bishop Mark, Rev Tom Birch, the priest in charge at St Mary's Ovingham, and Andy Hudson the executive head teacher.
At the end of the assembly, the Bishop blessed the school and cut the cake which was enjoyed by all pupils and staff.
The building works started in May last year where, after considerable damage by Storm Arwen, the external walls, windows and doors needed replaced. The extensive works were finally completed in November.
