A travel company has announced new changes on a major and popular route following a takeover transition.
Stagecoach has announced it will operate all journeys on Service 685 from the end of the week after Arriva’s time running it comes to an end.
The new changes will start from Sunday 22.
One of the buses that will be affected is the 685 which runs between Carlisle and Newcastle.
As well as the route change, the Tyne & Wear Mega Rider boundary will now extend to Hexham - meaning that regular travellers can take advantage of new lower day and weekly fares for travel to and from Newcastle.
The bus company on many journeys, they will still be offering the hourly service with a few changes in the morning and evening.
Rob Jones, Managing Director at Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone onto our new journeys and we plan on working to keep all the communities who rely on the service connected.
“This change comes as we are still offering our £2 single tickets which means people who live along the A69 route will now be able to take advantage of this offer and travel as far as either Carlisle or Newcastle for this bargain price.”
Day and week tickets are available on the bus by paying contactless or with cash, and also on our app, you can buy 28 day tickets on our website.
Arriva tickets will still be accepted until Sunday, January 29, 2023 but after this date, you will no longer be able to use them.
