A CHIEF superintendent will stand trial accused of attacking his wife.
At Newcastle Magistrates' Court, Karl Wilson, of Northumbria Police, pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by beating and one of criminal damage.
The suspended head of the force's control rooms allegedly assaulted his wife on two separate occasions on October 28, 2022, at an address in the Kingston Park area.

He also allegedly damaged her mobile phone on the same day.
Mr Wilson was released on conditional bail and is due to stand trial on February 9 at North Shields Magistrates' Court.
Superintendent Steve Ammari, head of the professional standards department at Northumbria Police, said: “As soon as concerns were raised in relation to this officer, we began an investigation and they were subsequently suspended from duty.
“A file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service which resulted in them being charged with the offences which they faced in court on Thursday, January 19.
“As there are ongoing court proceedings, it would therefore be inappropriate to comment any further.”
