A much-loved town event is returning for a special anniversary.
The Haltwhistle Carnival committee has revealed the town's carnival event will return on Sunday, July 9, after being on pause for three years due to Covid.
This year, organisers hope the event will be back with a 'bang' as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.
One of the committee members, Jamie Pattinson, said: "The last carnival was July 2019, and it's not been on for three years due to the pandemic.
"The committee is getting smaller and smaller. This year, we put an advert out to the local community for volunteers to help us with events.
"The response was brilliant, meaning we can bring back the carnival on July 9 of this year.
"The carnival has been a big miss in the community, and the excitement from everyone now it's returning seems unbelievable.
"There is still a lot to organise, but we plan to have our Easter kids disco where the carnival attendants will be picked around Easter time.

"The week of events will start the week before the carnival weekend with many favourite events coming back and some new ones, which we are still to announce."
The committee has also said it is not going to ask for sponsorship or donations from local businesses this year after everyone has had 'a hard few years' but would graciously accept contributions.
Jamie added: "If anyone or any businesses would like to contribute anything to an event, they can get in touch with the committee directly.
"We can't wait to bring carnival 2023 back with a bang!"
