A 16-YEAR-OLD accused of stabbing 15-year-old Holly Newton will make his first crown court appearance tomorrow (Wednesday).
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of assault and later on suspicion of murder after an alleged double stabbing in Hexham which saw Holly, of Haltwhistle, die of serious injuries and another boy, 16, hospitalised.
The suspect, from Gateshead, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
He will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on February 1.
It follows an earlier appearance before a district judge at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Monday when he was remanded into youth detention accommodation.
Holly's family said the popular teen had her whole life ahead of her. "We love you so much and our lives will never be the same without you here", they said. "You touched so many hearts and you will be missed beyond words by all of your family and loved ones.”
