A Northumberland Forest has been named as one of the UK's favourite places.

According to Jorvik Tricycles' most recent research, Kielder Forest has been named the sixth most popular forest in the UK.

In the survey, Kielder Forest had 22,000 monthly Google searches for its many activities in the tourist spot.

The large forestry plantation in Northumberland, England, surrounds Kielder village and the Kielder Water reservoir.

The reserve was completed in 1981 and officially opened by the Queen on May 26 1982.

It has been 'deemed' perfect for more experienced mountain bikers as it has over 200km of challenging trails, making it the largest dedicated mountain biking area.

One of the most popular long-distance routes is the Cross Border Route, which takes members of the public into Scotland and is suitable for a range of cyclists.

It is also very well known for being the largest man-made forest in England, covering a total of 250 square miles. Additionally, it has the largest man-made lake in Northern Europe.

Beyond the forest's popular daytime activities, Kielder Forest is also great for camping or weekend camping. 

Many can visit Kielder’s dark sky zone to star gaze, the second largest area of the protected night sky in Europe
