A dance school is celebrating success by bringing home medals after competing in its first ever championships.
Seven members of the Hexham-based Orla Doogan School of Irish Dance competed for the first time at the Scottish Open Championships in Glasgow.
The dancers individually performed across three age categories, dancing up to four different dances each.
The Scottish Championships have been set up by an Irish dance teacher and each year the competition expands.
Many other schools attended the competition, with some coming from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, England and the USA.
“I was so proud of our dancers” said Orla, who has been running Irish dance classes in Hexham since 2019.

“All of them danced brilliantly.
"It was such a big achievement for them to be placed and receive medals in their first competition.
"Most of the dancers they were competing against will be going to two classes a week and competing twice a month.”
If anyone would like to join Orla’s dance classes, they run on Saturdays between 12.30 – 2pm at the Hexham Community Centre.
