A TAKEAWAY has been handed a food hygiene score of one.
Merton Way Chinese Takeaway, a takeaway on Merton Road, Ponteland, was given a score of one on February 2.
The takeaway's hygienic handling of food, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, was deemed generally satisfactory, according to the Food Standards Agency website.
However, improvement is necessary in terms of the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building.
A major improvement is also necessary with regards to the management of food safety at the business.
Merton Way Chinese Takeaway was contacted for comment but the takeaway will be closed until mid-April.
