HEXHAM General Hospital is among the best in the UK.
It comes after the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust-run hospital ranked 21st in the fifth annual Newsweek and Statista Top 100 UK hospitals list.
The Corbridge Road hospital scored 74.72 per cent against first-place St Thomas' Hospital in London, which was rated 89.40 per cent.
Other trust hospitals Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington (68.73 per cent) and North Tyneside General Hospital, North Shields, (68.61 per cent) placed 69th and 72nd respectively.
Newcastle hospitals, the Freeman and The Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), which were also named in the world's best hospitals list for 2023, came in at 7th and 8th in the UK. The Freeman scored 80.83 per cent and the RVI, 80.74 per cent.
In October, Northumbria Healthcare was found to be 'better than expected' in the 2021 Adult Inpatient Survey. The hospital trust was the only acute trust to be featured in the outliers report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The trust, which has an overall rating of 'outstanding', achieved the results in 32 of the 47 questions asked of patients.
The trust was also recognised as 'much better than expected' for its surgical experiences.
