WE shared the news that the brand-new Sele skate park is open for people to use, and our readers shared their thoughts on it.
The new and improved Sele skate park in Hexham is open after six months of refurbishment.
The upgrade has been welcomed by the Hexham Youth Initiative group.
The youth group asked the town council to support it with a contribution of funds to help resurface the park.
After a donation from Hexham Town Council of £25,000 and through their own fundraising efforts, the group raised £150,000.
Work started in November 2022 to resurface the skate park.
The business No Limits Gym Hexham said: "Now we need a roller blade or skate path," and Stephen Teasdale said: "Should have been some safety rails."
Paula Common added: "It’s a shame they didn’t put the seat back in for those who just want to spectate, but it looks great."
Shirley Bryant said: "Great for the young ones they need this," as Valerie Lambert commented: "Well done to whoever gave the go ahead to renovate the skate park.
"I’m sure all who use it will love it," she said.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson from Hexham Youth said: "We are over the moon.
"It really shows what partnership working can achieve and Hexham Town Council has been fantastic.
"They really listened to the young people."
