A FIRST school will celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.
Staff and students at Hexham First School will mark the coronation on the afternoon of Friday, May 5.
Headteacher and designated safeguarding lead, Justine Overton, said: "The children are really looking forward to celebrating the King's Coronation in school on Friday. They have been busy making crowns, bunting and flags ready to celebrate in style at their royal afternoon tea.
"Children will enjoy an afternoon of celebration and activities, including pin the jewel on the crown, a bouncy castle, a royal photo booth, a royal afternoon feast, royal tattoos, planting some royal flower seeds and arts and crafts.
"From 2.30 onwards, parents and carers are invited to join the school for its royal parade, planting a commemorative oak tree, burying a time capsule and listening to the children sing Sing for the King. Every child will be gifted a commemorative mug to mark this special occasion."
The Coronation of His Majesty the King and Queen Consort will take place on Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey.
