A SPRING plant swap event organised by Transition Tynedale and Grow Hexham is set to take place this weekend.
People will be able to visit the stall at Hexham Farmers Market on Saturday, May 13, between 9am and 1.30pm.
Amy Hemmings, of Grow Hexham, said: "Donations of any spare vegetable and salad seedlings are especially welcome to pass on to local people and support the local growing ethos of both Transition Tynedale and Grow Hexham.
"Plants, fruit, annuals and perennials too, they all help reduce ‘plant miles’.
"This stall is great opportunity to give away surplus seedlings and pick up something you don't already have!"
Megan Payne, Transition Tynedale member and stall organiser for many years, said: "We are often overwhelmed by plants and seedlings people bring along. They just keep coming as the day goes on!
"There is always a great buzz, many questions and smiles as new discoveries are made.
"We keep fingers crossed for good weather and say a big thanks to Grow Hexham for doing so much of the organising this year."
Those taking away plants are invited to make a donation to Transition Tynedale if they can.
