A CLUB is set to make an appearance on a popular TV show fronted by comedian Hugh Dennis.
Mickley Club, on West Road in Stocksfield, will make an appearance on The Great British Dig Cherryburn episode on June 29 at 9pm on Channel 4's More 4.
Presenter and TV star Hugh Dennis was in the town to excavate back gardens around Stocksfield and was joined by an expert team of archaeologists in an attempt to uncover some lost history.
Hugh made a special appearance at the club when tried his hand at bingo calling.
Committee member Alision Barker said: "We were contacted by a production team member and she explained how in the programme, they liked to get the whole community involved.
"They then asked if they could use the club. We do not open the club during the day, so I offered the upstairs space for them to store the equipment.
"She then said that they would like to do something at the club and asked what we do on a night time. So I said that we a number of activities like a quiz, live music and bingo, which we do twice a week.
"She then came back to me and said Hugh Dennis would like to call the numbers out.
"So one night, Hugh Dennis took it in turns with our resident bingo caller Billy Sothergill.
"We have loved been a part of the experience, as it was not only good for the community but also for the club as it raises the profile of it."
