A Saks hair salon in Hexham has won the coveted Saks Hair Salon of the Year award for 2023, beating over 80 salons from across the UK.

The win, announced at the annual Saks Awards held at Wynyard Hall, is a celebration of the highly trained and professional teams of creative hairdressers who have excelled in every area over the past year.

The salon, which was a finalist in six categories, scooped up the Advanced Apprentice of the Year award for Jodie Davis, who received a distinction in her level 2 exam.

The Creative Image of the Year award was won by Shannon Currah, who created a glamorous take on a low ponytail style modelled beautifully by Katie Ramsay, the salon's Front of House helper.

Currah also received a well-deserved Special Recognition Award for her tireless efforts in representing the salon and Saks at various events, including the Salon Business Awards, British Hairdressers Business Awards, and fashion shows at the V&A and Graduate Fashion Week.

But the ultimate prize was the Saks Hair Salon of the Year award, which recognises the salon's exceptional work in hair transformation, as well as its participation in shoots, competitions, and other events.

The win has left the team "over the moon and very proud".

The Saks Awards is an annual event that brings together the best talent from Saks salons across the UK.

This year's event, held at the beautiful Wynyard Hall, featured a BBQ and drinks reception on the terrace before the awards ceremony.
