Two "local lads" are taking on an incredible challenge to attempt their third Guinness World Record, as they aim to play pool for 111 hours.

Marc Murray and Colin Pilcher, from Blyth and Consett in County Durham, previously held the Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Playing Pool in 2011 and 2013, and they now plan to smash their previous record by playing 8-ball pool continuously without any sleep.

The five-day live-streamed event, which will be held at Hooch's in Consett on Tuesday, July 25, will also see a range of other fundraising activities including coffee mornings, raffles, tombolas, and auctions.

The friends plan to raise £10,000 in donations to equally split between two charities: The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) and If You Care Share Foundation, which supports suicide prevention.

Mr Murray, who has two sons who are profoundly deaf, has chosen NDCS as thanks for their help over the last 8 years.

He said: "I would love to raise as much money as possible to say thank you and to help the NDCS to continue to support more deaf children and their families in the years to come"

Professional pool player Wade Morley will be giving an exhibition on Tuesday night and donating a signed cue and shirt.
