A Northumberland woman has been given a suspended sentence after stealing vodka from Waitrose and driving a car in a McDonald's car park despite being disqualified.
Sharon Anne Bethell, 59, from Stocksfield, appeared in court on charges of theft after stealing alcohol from the Waitrose store in Hexham on March 30.
Bethell stole a bottle of Waitrose Vodka and a pair of reading glasses, worth £32.40.
Bethell was also sentenced in relation to driving offences that happened on the same day.
She had driven a black Vauxhall Astra on the McDonald's car park in Hexham, despite being disqualified from driving.
As a result, Bethell was charged with driving without insurance, as well as driving whilst disqualified.
She pled guilty to all offences and received a suspended sentence of eight weeks, which will be activated if she commits another offence within the next 18 months.
The court also ordered her to pay a compensation fee of £32.40 to Waitrose, a victim surcharge of £154, and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
