A MAJOR retail and pharmacy chain announced it will close 300 stores this year across the UK.
Boots, a health and beauty retailer and pharmacy chain, stated it will close stores across the UK but has not released these locations.
Further information will be shared over the coming months.
There are no proposed redundancies, with all impacted team members offered redeployment.
The business explains this is part of ongoing reviews to ensure the company has stores and resources in the right locations and will allow Boots to concentrate resources to provide a reliable service.
The company will have 1,900 stores across the UK following the closures.
A spokesperson said: "The vast majority of closing stores (more than 85 per cent) are within 5km of another, with 82 per cent of people within the UK remaining within a 10-minute drive of a Boots store following this."
Boots’ in-house brands were standout performers in the last quarter for the three months ending May 31.
The Boots suncare range, Soltan, delivered sales growth of 19 per cent helped by the warm weather, while Boots’ Everyday Essentials own brand range saw 40 per cent growth in the period.
