WE asked our readers what the best restaurant they had ever visited was. Here's what they said.
1 The Hemmel Cafe and Farm Shop, Allenheads
Ray Aldridge-Morris recommended The Hemmel Cafe in Allenheads, which he said was the best restaurant he had tried.
The Hemmel Cafe used to be a cow barn and was converted into a cafe in 1989, now serving homemade cakes, pies and cheesecakes.
It also provides outside catering for weddings, parties and anniversaries.
2 Mongolian Barbecue, South Dakota
Ray Bather said his was Mongolian Barbecue in Rapid City, South Dakota.
3 Danielle’s Bistro, Hexham
Dorothy Spencer recommended Danielle’s in Hexham, which she said 'is excellent'.
The bistro serves freshly cooked Mediterranean and British dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
Some of their dishes include roasted halloumi and a vegetable skewer, chicken parmigiana and grilled seabream fillet.
4 The Mogul Raj, Ponteland
Evelyn Anderson voted for The Mogul Raj in Ponteland.
The Indian restaurant is highly rated on Tripadvisor. One customer wrote: "Had a really great night at The Mogul Raj last night with friends.
"There is always a friendly greeting and great service serving delicious dishes. Fantastic choice and very good value. Been a while since last there but will be back again soon."
5 Carts Bog Inn, Langley
Lyn Murray said her favourite was the Carts Bog Inn.
With a dog-friendly bar area, pool room, extensive garden and dining area the pub offers something for everyone.
6 Hard Rock Cafe, Cologne
AB Smith said: "Cologne Hard Rock Cafe. Nothing posh just the best food ever."
7 Bouchon Bistrot, Hexham
Jon Winter said: "Can't beat Bouchon."
French dishes include crispy duck confit with Lyonnaise potatoes and venison medallions with red cabbage and celeriac purée.
8 Red Lion, Newbrough
Trish Law voted for the Red Lion in Newbrough.
The menu is seasonal and the produce is locally sourced with home-grown vegetables.
9 The Valley Restaurant, Corbridge
Najeeb Ahmed said his favourite was The Valley in Corbridge.
The restaurant offers the unique Passage to India train service, where passengers join the train from Newcastle and order their food which is ready on their arrival to The Valley.
The business also has a location in Jesmond.
10 The Boatside Inn, Hexham
Stuart Stokoe said his favourite was The Boatside Inn.
