A BROKEN down train has blocked some Northern train lines.
A broken-down train has caused severe disruption on the Northern train line between Carlisle and Haltwhistle.
Train services running through these stations will be cancelled. Disruption is expected until 2pm.
Trains from Carlisle to Newcastle in both directions will end and restart at Haltwhistle where possible but some services will be cancelled in full.
Until the train has been moved, Wetheral, Brampton and Carlisle will not receive a train service on this route.
Services that operate between Newcastle and Hexham are not currently affected.
Services between Carlisle and Newcastle are currently being disrupted in both directions due to a failed freight train in the Wetheral area.
The freight company responsible are currently liaising with Network Rail to try and source another train to enable it to be moved.
