A LITTLE bit of rain did not dampen Allendale residents' spirits as they enjoyed their annual Mayfair event.
Hundreds turned out to see Moris dancers, singers, and acrobats but also to have a go at the strongman competition and battle it out on the dodgems at this year's circus-themed Allendale Mayfair 2023.
Despite the weather being miserable - nothing could stop the fun of the anticipated summer event.
One of the committee members, Jayne Pryde said: "The Mayfair was a brilliant success!
"We were worried that the weather would put people off but it was really busy and had a great atmosphere.
"The kids loved the circus skills and dodgems, 69 entrants completed the 9-mile mini challenge over the fell in the wind and rain including lots of children and young people on Sunday morning. And everyone loved dancing in the rain to the fantastic bands including Gangsters of Ska on Saturday night.
"So many people gave their time and effort to make this a brilliant event for the community who didn't let a bit of water stop them from having an absolute ball.
"It's been a memorable one, we hope to do more of the same next year.....maybe even in May."
