NORTHUMBERLAND County Council have issued an update as to when new traffic lights will be fitted at the entrance of a Tynedale town.
For weeks, temporary lights have been put in place outside Tesco's on Alemouth Road in Hexham, after a traffic signal controller has failed to allow safe passage of pedestrians.
Curious about when the temporary lights will be removed and the lights to be fixed, the Courant asked for an update.
In the response, the council has confirmed that the earlier lights, due to its age, is no longer useful and it is needing to be replaced. They hope to complete the task by the end of this month.
A spokeswoman for Northumberland County Council said:
"The Traffic Signals Controller has failed. Due to its age, it is now obsolete and therefore must be replaced. We will take the opportunity to replace the poles and signal heads at the same time.
"The work is due to be completed before the end of August."
