A TYNEDALE sports facililty has thanked local businesses for their continued support.
Haltwhistle Golf Club secretary Sheila Gibson says she is thankful for the ongoing support of business owners who have offered sponsorship.
The 18 hole, 5532 yard, par 69 golf course is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on an honesty box system for those wanting to play.
The course is loved for its well maintained greens.
Sheila said: "Our sponsors day provides some income, as we are a non-profit, so it is nice to have local people supporting us. It is just great.
"We are always looking for more."
Cllr Terry Christie said:"As a local businessman and being the owner of the Manor House pub and resturant and also being a very proud councillor, I think it is important that as a business we support local organisations like Haltwhistle Golf Club.
"They rely on sponsorship and advertising and local businesses bring new members as they rely on membership, as it is quite isolated where it is.
"It is a beautiful course, stunning scenery on every hole and it is a National Park, so it has a lot of heritage as well.
"I am actively trying to support Haltwhistle Golf Club and at the moment what they really need is woman golfers and dads with families to come along.
"They even have a professional that comes in and gives free lessons to encourage younger members."
