Tynedale sisters are celebrating their exam results together.
Megan Forbes, from Allendale celebrated an impressive set of grade 9-8 GCSE results just one week after her sister Amy shone in her A Levels.
Sixteen-year-old Megan, a pupil at Dame Allan’s Girls’ School, achieved six top grade 9s and three grade 8s and plans to study History, Psychology and Politics when she moves into Dame Allan’s co-educational Sixth Form next month.
Megan said: “I feel amazing and relieved… It has been stressful! I’m looking forward to taking a couple of new subjects at A Level.”
Megan returned to the Newcastle independent school to collect her results with sister Amy, who last Thursday achieved A*s in A Level History and Geography and a B in A Level Chemistry. Amy will head off to study Geography at the University of Nottingham in September.
Amy said: “It has been a tough time with us both, so I’m very pleased with our results.”
Parents Helen and Gareth Forbes spoke of their pride: “They’ve both worked so hard. The years through Covid were obviously difficult but they’ve managed to keep going and we are really happy for them.”
Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools, said: “It’s been a fantastic year for our Year 11 pupils across the Boys’ and Girls’ Schools and they should feel very proud of their achievements.
“Megan is one of our high-flyers coming into the Sixth Form and we look forward to seeing her continue to flourish over the next two years.”
