A CRIME fiction tour will begin next month at Hexham Library.
The Border Readers are an association of regionally-based professional actors who tour themed fictional story readings throughout Northumberland venues and beyond.
The 'Murder, They Write' autumn crime story tour presented by the Border Readers starts on Tuesday, October 3 at Hexham Library.
Three short stories have been chosen from the 2011 anthology of Murder Squad, one of the UK's leading associations of crime writers.
Other local venues include Elsdon on October 5, Bellingham on October 18, Wallington on October 20, Allendale on November 2, Whitfield on November 18 and Humshaugh on November 24.
The three-course literary listening treat consists of a 'Vera' locked room murder mystery by Ann Cleeves set in the Lit & Phil Library in Newcastle, a spot-on homage to Sherlock Holmes with a contemporary twist by Martin Edwards and a Victoria Wood-style darkly comic monologue by Cath Staincliffe.
The company’s last event, 'Artistic Licence', fictional stories about art and artists, premiered at the Vault in Hexham in April this year (2023).
