CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2024 has been released to reveal the best pubs for beer across the UK.

We rounded up the pubs which are in Tynedale.

Corbridge

1 The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Corbridge was described as an 'imposing, Grade II-listed, stone-built pub'.

The guide states it has two changing beers sourced locally, often Allendale, Hadrian Border and Timothy Taylor.  

East Wallhouses

2 Robin Hood Inn stocks Hadrian Border Tyneside Blonde and Great North Eastern Rivet Catcher. CAMRA said the pub serves 'good, locally produced beers and food'.

"There is onsite wild camping and glamping at reasonable prices," it added.

Greenhaugh

3 Holly Bush Inn stocks locally sourced Hadrian Border Grainger Ale and Twice Brewed's Sycamore Gap.

"Independently owned pub, over 300 years old and set in the heart of the Northumberland National Park and the Dark Sky Park, making it ideal for those with an interest in real ale and real stars," CAMRA said.

Haltwhistle

4 Haltwhistle Comrades Club stocks three beers which are sourced nationally. CAMRA members are welcome. "It is popular with tourists as Hadrian’s Wall heritage site is nearby," the guide said.

Hexham

5 County Hotel stocks Hadrian Border Tyneside Blonde and Timothy Taylor Landlord. "It is popular for food, with an extensive and varied menu supplemented with specials."

6 Stocking Timothy Taylor Landlord and other changing beers sourced nationally, the Heart of Northumberland is described as a 'food-led independent free house'.

"Excellent food is served with an emphasis on locally sourced produce and Northumbrian tradition," it added.

7 The Platform Bar, a single-room micropub, opened in 2019 and stocks six changing beers, sourced locally.

"It has perimeter seating with freestanding tables, and railway memorabilia on the walls," CAMRA said.

8 Tannery stocks two changing beers, sourced nationally and calls itself 'Hexham's living room'.

It is split into two distinct bars, between a gin and cider bar offering traditional pub games and a bar serving real ales.

9 Three beers sourced nationally are on offer at the Victorian Tap.

CAMRA describes it as a 'busy, compact, street-corner local'.

Once Brewed

10 Twice Brewed Inn

"An excellent, remote inn on the Military Road, near to Hadrian’s Wall, Steel Rigg and Vindolanda," CAMRA said. Stocks six changing beers sourced nationally.

Ideal for walkers and tourists.

Ponteland

11 Four changing beers, sourced nationally, are available at the Pont Tap.

"The friendly welcome and comfortable surroundings make this a must-visit if you are in the area," CAMRA said.

Prudhoe

12 Wor Local offers four changing beers sourced nationally. The micropub 'encourages conversation' and has traditional pub and board games to play.

Slaley

13 Rose and Crown brings four locally sourced beers to the table in a Grade-II listed building. "There are log fires in winter and a sheltered garden with long views in the summer."

Wark

14 Battlesteads Hotel offers four nationally sourced changing beers. The former farmhouse has a 'restaurant, large conservatory and a lovely walled garden to rear'.
